Job Description
Arcadis is looking to hire a Construction Project Manager to support industrial construction projects in automotive sector with our Places Team business unit in our north Mexico area at the client site location in Saltillo Coahuila. This is an on-site role for a large client of the automotive sector.
As a Construction Project Manager, you will ensure that projects adhere to client requirements and business goals by developing and driving plans, managing cross - functional teams, and coordination activities within the established project timelines set forth by the client. You will be responsible for all project phases: pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and validation.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring successful delivery of physical work at project site by supervising operations and construction activities. Reporting directly to the Construction Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be to coordinate and manage the contractor and sub-contractors of assigned construction project and collaborate closely with a large and multidisciplinary team of professionals, client representatives, and authority officials, ensuring adherence to project schedules, safety policies, and quality standards. Your expertise in project and construction management will be essential in guarantee the efficient execution of a construction project for a large Automotive client.

- Position on a project-based contract basis with the possibility of extending it to an indefinite contract within the company
- Full time (40 hrs pw Monday to Friday)
- This position is located on the client's site
Role accountabilities:
- Establish partnership with the Owner's team working together for the benefit of the Project
- Ensure all parties, including Contractor, work together as a team to provide a finished project, in a time frame defined by the Client, and to a budget acceptable to the Client
- Ensure a clear organizational structure with good communication lines between all parties
- Oversee the execution of the project on day-to-day basis including pre-construction, construction and post-construction phases and act decisively should the project run into delay, or any activity is being carried out in an unsafe manner
- Preparation of the Project Construction Risk Profile
- Preparation, updating and maintaining of the Project Directory, Risk Register and Project Execution Plan during the term of the Project
- Supervise, monitor, and take clear, decisive and proactive action in conjunction with Project Manager (Client) when required during the execution of the Works during construction and post-construction phases, in accordance with the contract between the Client and the Contractor
- Review, comment and approve Contractor's construction program, monitor, and report updates during execution of the Works
- Review, checks and recommends for payment of Contractor's Monthly Progress Accomplishments
- Revision, control, and authorization of all extra and additional works resulting in claiming to the Client
- Revision and control of progress and contracted Work volumes.
- Preparation and updating of progress report on a weekly / monthly basis and when exceptional circumstances arise
- Preparation and updating of safety report on a weekly / monthly basis and when exceptional circumstances arise
- Preparation and updating of a QA/QC report on a weekly / monthly basis and when exceptional circumstances arise
- Establish, maintain, and update with Clients, Consultants, and third parties timing of Site visits and inspections as Engineers of Record during the execution of the Works that the Works comply the Contract Documents
- Review, comment, approve, monitor, and update testing and commissioning program
- Review, comment and accept testing and commissioning manuals, testing certificates and warranties, in accordance with Contractor's contract closeout deliverables
- Review, and update and monitor master plan and master program against actual progress particularly critical activities
- Preparation and issuance of Construction Close Out Report
- Checking drawings, review project work scope, drawings, and requirements for compliance to engineering design, materials, procurement, fabrication and construction
- Overseeing quality control, health, and safety matters on the site, and ensuring that regulations are adhered to Clients' requirements and policies respectively
- Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise
- Identify risk and issues, suggest alternatives that lead to the best solution.
- Reviews and manage contractual obligations of the parties and provides continual review to ensure that all terms and conditions are met
- Ensure that all Works are done in accordance with project requirements, and national and international construction codes
- Responsible of managing all technical documentation of the project and construction works
- Responsible for coordinating design reviews and approvals between owner and contractors
- Ensure that owner's safety, security and fire protection regulations are clearly understood and adhered to and control the property and premises until hand-over
- In consultation with the client's procurement department and the Project Manager, has the responsibility for the definition of the contract strategy, and the selection and coordination of contractors and suppliers and ensures that the execution of the project is in accordance with contract and the job specification
- Chairs summary project meetings and ensures all other necessary specialist meetings are held as required
- Direct responsibility for completion of the project, including handover to the Project Manager and Operations
Key attributes:
- Experience managing capital or mission critical projects within the private sector preferably in automotive or manufacturing industry
- Ability to thrive in a deadline project environment
- Able to meet and manage client and stakeholder's expectations
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree: in Civil Engineering (or Architecture), Construction, Construction Management, or a related field (Degree required)
- Master's degree would be beneficial - Civil, Structural, Mechanical / Electrical (Engineering) preferable
- A minimum of 15 years of extensive experience in various land development projects managing Greenfield and Brownfield Construction Projects (industrial property and industrial buildings specially in automotive industry)
- Proven experience managing medium - large projects in industrial sector.
- Proven experience managing, contractors and sub-contractors, client representatives and authority officials
- Deep knowledge of Project Management with demonstrated experience in managing construction activities, site coordination and client representation.
- Proven effective project and construction management skills in medium - large construction projects
- Full command of verbal and written English communications skills.
- Deep knowledge of local and international construction codes.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage stakeholder's expectations and built healthy interpersonal relationships
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate to have a strong work ethic and being a highly motivated and self-driving person
- Strong software skills related to project management
- PMP or PMC certification preferred
- Primavera (P6) preferred
