Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager of Regulatory Affairs supports the Latin America Flavors, Food Colors and Pharma business units, based in Mexico. This role manages teams in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Tlalnepantla, Mexico, and Lerma, Mexico. This position is responsible for leading, the Mexico Flavors and Food Colors Regulatory Compliance functions, coordinating the regulatory compliance standards and activities to support the Latin America business units, including properly communicating, and educating management staff on all regulatory compliance requirements for the Group.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of compliance protocols and procedures to ensure continuous compliance with global legislation and regulations governing flavors, colors and pharma ingredients.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Management, training, and coaching of all Regulatory staff to assure technical competency and coverage.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (BS) degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Toxicology or related fields. In addition, the position requires five (5) years of experience in the area of food-related and/or pharma-related regulations and compliance. Of these, at least three (3) to five (5) years should be in a leadership and supervisory capacity. Knowledge of computer programming and data handling is necessary.
All decisions affecting the regulatory status of various products are made by the Manager on a routine basis with only periodic advisement from supervisor. Refers specific cases to supervisor only when, in his/her judgment, a decision has a major impact on cost, safety, service, customer relations or company image.
Work requires travel to Sensient locations in region and occasional interactions with regulatory agencies and/or customers.
Must be fluent in English and Spanish.

MAJOR DUTIES:
- Understand, interpret and apply current regulations as applicable to Flavors, Colors & Pharma operations worldwide, with particular emphasis on Mexico and Latin America.
- Publish and present interpretations and findings from regulatory meetings and literature in a manner that will drive the Group to the forefront of regulatory compliance.
- Develop protocols to ensure knowledge transfer throughout all Regulatory staff. Provide a broad industry awareness to all senior level management across Business.
- Maintain processes for accurate and timely delivery of regulatory information to support the development of finished product technical data sheets, which include labeling information, allergen data and nutritional data sheets.
- Develop and maintain processes to provide customers with certifications concerning product labeling/ compliance requirements (e.g., allergens), religious claims (e.g., Kosher, Halal, etc.), and naturalness of products.
- Develop and improve Regulatory process and systems, ensuring timely and accurate Departmental response to Company and/or Customer regulatory requests. Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the adoption and optimization of the Devex, Decernis, Sensient Docs, and TraceGains systems with in the region.
- Provide representation in technical associates relevant to the color and flavor business activities and regulations.
