BASIC FUNCTION
Under indirectsupervision coordinates the activities of a group of salaried and unionassociates in several departments or a full shift engaged in production andsupport activities. Will be responsible for all objectives as established bythe Manager-Manufacturing to maintain the department in good working in orderto provide a safe work environment and achieve targeted productionobjectives.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage effectiveness of several departments throughout the plant and achieveproduction objectives through efficient utilization of assigned personnel,materials and equipment per Engineering Standards.
Communicate expectations of departmental associates directly to Foremen.Facilitate understanding and acceptance of expectations to same individualswith daily/weekly/monthly reviews and continuous monitoring of performanceresults as prescribed by Production Manager.
Provide leadership and direction for operational salary and hourly peopleassigned to the operation. Perform performance evaluations for ProductionForemen as prescribed and approve performance evaluations of Union associatesinitiated by Production Foremen.
Continually monitor and modify training requirements necessary to supportfulfillment of production activities per Engineering Standards.
Interacts with the foremen on all Production activities and supervises accuratedata logging for Production Reports in SAP.
Ensure foremen are held accountable for accurate reporting on all requiredreports and hour by hour standard worksheets. Design and implementsolutions if hourly/daily/weekly attainment is not being met.
Responsible to coordinate daily and weekly meetings with production foremen andsupport department leaders to review results and define corrective actions.
Coordinate quality improvements within department by working closely with allsupport groups.
Manage expense budgets for assigned department for all raw materials andconsumables per Engineering Standards.
Develop charts/statistics upon request to track the manufacturing performancemetrics.
Supports to finances with the overtime controls and preapprovals.
Manage expenses budget assigned to manufacturing. Propose, coordinate andimplement cost reduction projects in the manufacturing areas.
Skills/Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is valid. However, we prefer the following:
BA/BS with at least 4 - 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong technical background supervising and increasing departmental effectiveness. Effective oral and written communication skills requirement along with ability to prioritize and schedule work in order to maintain production and quality deadlines. Must have problem-solving skills to provide workable and efficient solutions for the factory environment. The ability to speak, write and understand English is required.
