Team Function:
· The team's work responsibility includes Reserving for the non-standard auto and specialty lines books, including performing reserve analysis, monitoring actual vs. expected loss and loss adjustment expense activity, and booking monthly results.
· Support year-end actuarial reporting, as well as Chief Actuary's reserving meetings with Executives and Board of Governors, enterprise-wide reserve roll-up and analysis.
· Provide actuarial support for Reinsurance and Zurich including IFRS17. Work with Product teams, Claims, Accounting, Planning & Performance Management, Reinsurance, auditors, internal and external reinsurers.
Role Description:
· The role function includes data extraction and manipulation in excel and R; extract loss and premium data from finance system and produce booking transmittals; supporting reinsurance reporting including data call and IFRS17 reporting; roll over and perform actuarial analysis in ResQ using multiple actuarial methodologies; trend study; Maintaining and updating analysis tools; Perform monthly actual vs. expected analysis in excel/R; performing ad hoc analysis.
Essential Job Functions:
· Applies concepts of economics and financial mathematics to calculate present and accumulated values for various streams of cash flows as a basis for future use in: reserving, valuation, pricing, asset/liability management, investment income, capital budgeting, and valuing contingent cash flows Applies knowledge of investments and financial markets in an insurance context
· Has broad knowledge of insurance company operational structure and interplay between functions including actuarial, accounting, claims, finance, product management, underwriting, marketing and regulatory/legislative affairs.
· Applies knowledge of ratemaking and estimating to effectively price insurance contracts and/or set up reserves.
· Applies knowledge of insurance legislation and regulation to appropriately report financial results
· Uses appropriate tools and techniques to model processes to estimate loss costs, reserve liabilities and facilitate risk management decisions
