The APQP Engineer is responsible for coordinating the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new product launches and engineering changes. This role ensures that quality planning tools and deliverables are developed and maintained in alignment with customer and internal requirements to achieve flawless project execution.
Your Role:
- Lead and coordinate APQP activities, ensuring timely completion of deliverables including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and PPAP submissions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers) to define and implement robust quality plans.
- Conduct and facilitate risk assessments and root cause analysis using Core Tools and problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
- Monitor and support the implementation of preventive and corrective actions for product and process nonconformities.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements during the entire product development cycle.
- Support the smooth transition of projects from development into serial production with a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
What do you need?
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Automotive, or related field).
- At least 3 years of experience in APQP, quality, or product engineering roles within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
- Experience working with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); knowledge of SAP is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Bilingual: Spanish and intermediate to advanced English required.
