As a Wiring Harness Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and managing the lifecycle of vehicle wiring harnesses from inception to implementation. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive electrical systems, an ability to manage complex projects, and active participation in all phases of product development and standardization.
The responsibilities include:
Overseeing the lifecycle of automotive parts from development to final implementation, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and deliverables.
Ensure accuracy and consistency between parts/drawings and models, adhering to the “Model is Master” philosophy
Own and lead change management documentation processes.
Validate necessity of changes in vehicle design and oversee first piece and production sign-off activities
Own and manage engineering issue processes including root cause analysis and corrective actions
Actively participate in launch activities at assembly plants and support vehicle/component DFMEA, DVP, FO, and Design Rule activities.
Review and validate supplier's DFMEA and DVPR
Engage in packaging and design review meetings
Update and maintain system databases and support wiring harness complexity documentation
Contribute to the production of owner's manual images and support standardization across components and documents
Develop and architect the overall vehicle harness structure, ensuring it meets all technical and regulatory standards
Investigate and implement simplification and innovation in harness design, performing benchmarking as necessary
Propose adjustments to electrical architectures to optimize cost and feasibility
