Environmental GIS Data Management Specialist & SharePoint Developer

Overview: GCL Environmental seeks a highly skilled and motivated Environmental GIS, Data Management Specialist, and SharePoint Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Power Automate to streamline workflows. The role involves creating detailed figures, utilizing Survey123 for form creation and data collection, and managing data for automatic reporting. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with extensive GIS and Developer experience. A Master's degree with extensive GIS and Developer experience is preferred.

The successful candidate will contribute to GCL's environmental and innovation projects, including project planning, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation, reclamation, vegetation assessments, detailed site assessments, and reclamation applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage GIS-based platforms for environmental project planning and execution.

• Design and implement data collection tools using Survey123 and ArcGIS ensuring seamless data integration into technical environmental reporting systems.

• Utilize Microsoft SharePoint Online, Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Forms and other Microsoft 365 services to create efficient workflows for data management and analysis.

• Produce high-quality figures and visual representations of environmental data.

• Conduct Phase II ESAs, remediation, and reclamation projects, including vegetation and detailed site assessments.

• Prepare and submit reclamation applications, adhering to regulatory standards and guidelines.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met within specified timelines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Environmental Science, GIS, or a related field.

• Proven experience with GIS platforms and data management tools and languages (e.g. ESRI ArcGIS, Survey 123, Python, and C++)

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint Online, Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Forms, and other Microsoft 365 services.

• Experience with Golden Software – Surfer, Notion, Microsoft Loop, QGIS (open source GIS), SQL Database, and Zapier would be considered an asset. 

• Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
