The Design and Release Engineer Expert will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing and production release of systems and components for various projects. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and ensure the successful development and release of the products. They will also be responsible for managing the Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. General Activities: • Technical program management for one or more vehicle lines by being the key point of contact between the design team and all other functional areas such as vehicle program management, engineering departments and manufacturing. • Responsible for ensuring that the systems meet all functional and performance requirements while meeting cost, weight, investment, timing, and quality objectives. • Support Manufacturing/Product Execution in defining the correct assembly and test operations to guarantee the vehicle conformity to client's expectations and to conduct problem solving activities at the assembly plant from pilot phase through launch • Provide strong support of concept studies, initial packaging, thermal system design, cost and weight analysis, prototype procurement, supplier management, sourcing, tooling kickoff, validation, launch, program maintenance, change management, value optimization, and quality improvement initiatives. • Coordinate technical issue resolution pertaining to engineering and quality at all stages of the program and across all functional areas. • During the launch phase, is the launch lead and key person responsible for triage and resolution of issues, while communicating status and managing resources. • Define, share and update the vehicle development plan in order to guarantee the coherency of the vehicle behavior and the availability of the planned features at all stages. • Release the Specification to all Suppliers and manage the Requirements Change Management process through Design Change Requests (DCR) to ensure the alignment of Requirements with Product Planning requests, bug fixes and feedback from Suppliers. • Creation of process concepts, flow diagrams, and documenting process flows ; including work with ICT and all user groups (Body, Chassis etc.) Requirements Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent 6+ YOE in automotive industry Strong leader with entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to sell ideas to all stakeholders Capability in problem solving and root-causing Must be self-sufficient with ability to influence, manage and lead others (includind suppliers) without formal authority Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to manage multiple concurrent activities. Basic financial understanding with ability to maintain program budget. Ability to proactively communicate with other colleagues, stakeholders, program management, and supervisors. Experience and confidence in communicating status to a varied audience including top management. Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team. Ability and knowledge to create effective presentations. Must be able to lead and manage suppliers. Technical Skills: Significant experience using CAD for at least 6+ YOE at an advanced level as a CAD creator/designer. Expert knowledge of Model Data sharing processes to Suppliers (Mailbox, 3rd-party data sharing). Knowledge of security processes for CAD data in PLM systems. Expert knowledge of the processes used to create CAD models (explicit modeling, Solids, Parametric modeling, Knowledge Based Engineering). Knowledge of MBE – MBD (Model Based Engineering – Model Based Design). Knowledge of process in Product Lifecycle Manager systems; Releasing, Change Management, Digital Mockup (DMU), BOM structure alignment to vehicle “tree”. Able to create CAD standards and support documents.
