Responsibilities

The Opportunity

The Database Developer will operate within a team of other database developers, data analysts, data engineers, and software engineers to produce simpler, faster, and more insightful solutions for supply chain performance managers, decision makers, specialists and frontline personnel.

The Data Engineer's primary responsibilities include:
  • Apply your data modeling, database design and database development skills in collaborative manner to help the team create, maintain, monitor, and/or improve business owned dashboards, ETL processes, reports, tools, and custom web applications.
  • Design and construct new MS SQL Server and Oracle database objects that enable efficient storage and retrieval of data.
  • Help identify and resolve inefficiencies in team and application MS SQL Server and Oracle databases, Tableau/PowerBI dashboard extracts and queries, and ETL database operations.
  • Translate Business/User requirements into conceptual database designs.


Your Impact

As a Data Engineer (Database Developer) your responsibilities would consist of

  • Develop database tables, stored procedures, indexes, functions, views, and triggers as necessary to achieve efficient input/output of data to Frito Lay North America business team User facing apps, tools, dashboards, and reports
  • Ensure database operations are producing complete and accurate data stories and results for business decision making Users
  • Work closely with web developers, dashboard developers, reporting analysts, and data engineers to understand and construct as necessary the data functionality (algorithms), structure, and speed requirements needed to produce positive User experiences
  • Proactively monitor database health, table data freshness, slow performing or high memory usage queries/stored procedures, storage constraints, memory constraints, dormant tables, missing or un-used indexes
  • Connect and Collaborate with IT DBAs to identify opportunities to enhance our database capabilities (database upgrades, configuration changes, new functionality, etc.) and reliability (e.g., back-ups, test environment, up-time, etc.)


Qualifications

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Fluent in English
  • 1+ years of relational database development experience (MS SQL Server or Oracle preferred)
  • Intermediate/Advanced SQL and Python skills
  • Experience in optimizing database performance
  • Ability to translate business requirements or business process descriptions into data relationships, suggested database objects, and recommended supportive database functionality (e.g., stored procedures, indexes, triggers, etc.)
  • Understanding the uses and general best practices of stored procedures, indexes, functions, views, and triggers.
  • Experience creating or executing ETL processes
