The Laser Application Engineer is responsible for laboratory management. Will work with state of the art laser processing equipment, as well as the latest in robotics and machine tool technology. The ideal applicant is a hands-on person who enjoys working with machinery and electronics. Additionally, a good work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required since the position involves daily contact with IPG customers.

Perform tasks and functions in the lab area as laser demos, process validation, equipment testing, training and others. Support Sales with technical and application information of IPG products or services.

Experience in industrial lasers is preferred.

Responsible for the lab area and all equipment

Robot programming (Yaskawa, Fanuc, Kuka and others)

CNC programming knowledge

Welding experience is a plus (laser and MIG). Other applications include cutting, marking, cleaning, etc.

Responsible for laser safety in the labs as well as maintenance procedures.

Perform inspection of samples, including optical microscopy and metallographic cross sectioning, polishing for weld inspection

In-depth knowledge in troubleshooting of a broad range of laser systems.

In-depth process knowledge of lasers, controllers and related equipment.

Provide technical training to FSE's.

Perform training, both in-house and at customer's site, as required.

Perform in-house assigned tasks and procedures as required.

Must be able to travel. Must have a valid driver's license.
Skills:

Customer service focused skills; strong professional communications, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities

Demonstration and applications processing development in IPG locations, customer locations, and shows.

Proficient in Miscrosoft office.

Perfil del candidato

Bachelor master in Engineering or similar (Mechanical or Electrical specialization preferred)
+3 years experience in similar role
Background in automation, robot and CNC programming, robotic systems or manufacturing technology
Experience with industrial protocols
Previous industrial laser applications experience is a plus
Languages: Advanced English
