We are representing a renowned global leader specializing in high-speed and high-density connection systems. Committed to providing innovative products and services to clients worldwide, this industry giant boasts annual sales nearing $11 billion USD. Currently, they are in search of an Engineering Manager with expertise in Electrical Failure Analysis of Copper Cables to join their operations in Mexicali, BC, Mexico. The focus will be on manufacturing High-Speed Cable Products, with a primary focus on e-vehicles, energy storage, and consumer goods. THE POSITION The Engineering Manager will provide leadership and management to a multi-functional team in areas of process control and documentation, suppliers specifications and customers' requests, new product readiness, testing engineering, yield supervision, BOM's maintenance, equipment's and automation maintenance, and business margin improvement. Accountable for implementing a world class processes control mindset and standards supporting the site and business units' success. Ensure strategic plans are in place to support growth from a footprint, process capability and capacity and technical structure perspective. Driving a culture of continuous improvement in all facets of the operation is necessary for success. Main responsibilities: Overlook process engineering, test and electrical engineering, new product introduction, transitions, and project management. Partners with corporate engineering to ensure group strategic initiatives are deployed in our plant in a timely and effective manner. Ensures safety elements are deployed into manufacturing processes including JSA, equipment risk assessment. Manufacturing documents deployment and controls, such as work instructions, process deviations. Coordinate and deploy engineering change management effectively. Exercise diligent Management of Change on new process and equipment introduction, including layout and plant footprint changes due to manufacturing process needs. Lead new process and product qualification process, technical review approval, partners with group engineering and quality departments. Determining and implementing world class quality control mindset and standards (Control Plan, FMEA, Error proofing). Drives yield continuous improvement, RTY, Scrap, Downtime and OEE, through lean methodologies (Kaizen and root cause analysis), and management (trend, pareto, actions) Identify productivity opportunities on cycle time improvements, process balancing and equipment/resource utilization. Identify and lead cost down projects related to manufacturing process and equipment reliability expenses. Ensure engineering adherence to established operating system and standard work for process enablers such as Tier meetings, RCCP, S&OP, Quality and Operational reviews, financial and cost reviews. CAPEX Management in compliance with our finance standards. Ensure production equipment is managed and controlled through preventive maintenance system (Fixx ) ensuring preventive maintenance routines are in place, as well as proper controls for spare parts. Manage and control expenses on Maintenance and Repair, Professional Service, Tooling accounts. Provides leadership and talent development to junior staff including establishing objectives, setting goals, and managing accountability for attaining deliverables. Partners with human resources area to manage IDL/DL workforce based on demand, training needs and improvements implemented. THE CANDIDATE +3 years' experience in copper cables manufacturing as Engineering Manager +3 years' experience in automatic machines +3 years' experience in electrical failure analysis +5 years progressive experience in copper cables Firsthand oriented Strong experience in transitions and project management Strong experience in NPI and qualification Experience in manufacturing lean transformation in a high volume and high mix Experience leading capital initiatives until full deployment Proven ability to lead a team to achieve stretch goals and objectives Demonstrated leadership capabilities including people development Ability to provide positive direction by encouraging peers and direct report team to have a commitment to high standards of quality and performance Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects successfully Financial planning for new and existing projects Black belt preferred Lean expert preferred BS Degree Industrial / Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering Excellent verbal and writing communication skills in both Spanish and English MBA preferred 10%-time international travel
