Nuvani London is delighted to be recruiting for a talented and experienced Sommelier for a renowned resort in the Maldives. As a Sommelier, you will possess expert knowledge of wine and be responsible for creating an exceptional wine experience for guests. Responsibilities Overseeing the wine program, including developing and maintaining a comprehensive wine list. Providing expert advice and recommendations to guests regarding wine selection. Ensuring proper storage and handling of wines, maintaining inventory, and keeping accurate records of wine purchases and sales. Working closely with the kitchen team to develop wine-pairing recommendations for the menu. Conducting wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and guests. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of wine industry trends, new vintages, and emerging wine regions. Assisting with wine sales and achieving revenue targets. Requirements Proven experience as a Sommelier or Sake Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel. We are looking for a Japanese candidate, due to the nature of the outlet. Extensive knowledge of wines, including varietals, regions, and vintages. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate wine information to guests. Certification from a recognised wine education program is preferred. Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for creating memorable dining experiences. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Fluency in English and Japanese is required.
