Position Summary:

Responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports and meeting deadlines.


Organizational Fit:

The Assistant Controller works closely with corporate Tax, Treasury, Business Management, Operations, Financial Consolidation, Legal and Compliance teams, plus internal and external audit functions, and third-party service providers. Reports directly to Mexico Controller.


Job Setting:

Flex time.     

Office setting at Tala, Jalisco. Domestic and international travel might be required.

 

Major responsibilities:

 ·        Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.

·        Produces and manages balance sheets and analyze future earnings and expenses.

·        Assists with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization.

·        Assists with preparations for audits.

·        Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.

·        Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.

·        Delegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.

·        Coordinates with and prepares reports for CFO and upper management.

·        Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

·        Serves as resource and aid the statutory accounting team to ensure all Mexico statutory requirements are met in a timely fashion (Income Tax, Withholding, Local Taxes, etc.).

·        Controls accounting entry records and ensure the veracity of the information.

·        Coordinates periodic financial closings and analysis of variations in Balance Sheet, Cashflow and Income Statement results vs budget and forecasts.

·        Develops and reviews with management the monthly results vs annual budgets (OPEX and CAPEX) and their due compliance.

·        Monitors and coordinates inventories, their quality and disposal, obsolete excesses, and inventory adjustments.

·        Maintain communication with different banks, local authorities (Tax, Local and Social Security) and providers.


Requirements

·        Bachelor's degree in accounting

·        8+ years of experience in accounting.

·        Desirable to have worked in one of the Big Four Firms (PwC, Deloitte, KPMG or EY)

·        Strong reporting skills, attention to detail, and ability to report research results.

·        Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks, excellent time management and data entry management skills.

·        Strong working knowledge of MX GAAP Rules.

·        Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.

·        Strong bilingual verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

·        Subject matter expert with high ability to present/communicate accounting and control matters to internal and external stakeholders.

·        Experience working with SAP, or equivalent Enterprise systems (ERPs), and Power BI.

·        Assures the highest level of confidentiality on sensitive matters.

·        Adherence to the standards set forth by the Company and those found in the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
