The Intermodal Coordinator Mexico (ICM) is responsible for coordinating shipments, both northbound from Mexico and southbound to Mexico. The ICM will plan for asset availability throughout the Mexico IM network and book freight in accordance to network needs. The ICM will work directly with the customer to provide a high LOS. The ICM will plan drayage assets out of Mexico, and work with US Dispatch to ensure service expectations are met.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service – The ICM is responsible for providing direct customer service to his/her own accounts, or providing customer service support on accounts with existing customer service reps. This will include:

  • Booking new loads out of EDI, or by email tender
  • Providing service updates to the customer, or relaying drayage/rail information to the appropriate customer service rep within Bison
  • Assisting customers through phone/email in a timely manner
  • Providing service updates, reason codes, and scorecard data where applicable
  • Submitting cost recovery for any accessorials (storage, detention, etc.)


Drayage and Rail Providers – The ICM is responsible for assigning and dispatching 3rd party dray coverage in Mexico, as well as assigning/billing rail providers

  • Track and trace each container daily to ensure ETAs are on schedule
  • Communicate any rail delays to the respective planner, customer, or CSR
  • Assigning and tendering loads to drayage partners in Mexico, ensuring the draymen receives all applicable load information while rates and POs are updated in Maverick
  • Sourcing additional drayage partners and negotiate rates
  • Submitting waybills via rail portal


Equipment Management – The ICM is to ensure that the correct rail equipment is used on a given load, and that the equipment is used efficiently

  • Monitor equipment pools at customers, drop yards, and rail yards to ensure equipment is turning in a timely manner
  • Assign the correct equipment type to each load per Mexico asset network defined by manager
  • Damage to containers are reported to the manager and attended to


Team Duties - Support the Bison operations in an effort to achieve departmental objectives. The ICM must be aware of issues that go beyond their specific region, and have a clear understanding of how their activity affects the entire network. Involvement in issues outside of their region or regular scope of duties is required. The ICM may also engage in other projects and activities as is necessary to the position and as assigned by the Manager Intermodal Operations.
