The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The Manager, Meeting Planning - LATAM oversees the meeting planning function and staff that provides logistics management for Healthcare Professional (HCP)-facing events for the Latin America (LATAM) Area. Core areas of responsibility include leading a cohesive team and managing operations for the department with a focus on consistency and excellence in execution. This position is responsible for strategy implementation, achieving high internal and external customer satisfaction, adherence to healthcare compliance, and managing the financial performance of the department. Decisions will impact multiple functional areas of the business in multiple regions and have a significant customer impact.
  • Partners with functional heads to identify key priorities. Sets and executes short and medium-term strategic direction and plans for HCP meetings management in LATAM. Determines directions and priorities and is accountable for the activities and results of functional area. Establishes and manages meeting planning budgets. Defines guidelines and methods. Decisions are independently executed, in alignment with and typically limited by business or functional area objectives or guidelines.
  • Leads Meeting Planning employees and contingent workers, with direct supervision of professionals including objective setting, performance management and appraisals, employee engagement, training and development, and all relevant employee data, etc. Determines priorities, timetables, and allocates work assignments for workgroup. Effectively communicates vision and leads by example. Demonstrates a strong commitment to both corporate and Global Medical Sciences (GMS) operations, principles, and values. Enthusiastically and actively champions the value of Meeting Planning and GMS and how it contributes to the success of the organization.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in various internal departments to develop and enforce effective area level meeting planning processes. Demonstrates expertise in industry trends, customer requirements, and business objectives to define processes and guidelines. Identifies and defines processes and tools to consistently achieve high customer satisfaction and establishes meaningful metrics and reporting cadence. Initiates projects and drives continuous improvement activities actively identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness, efficiency, competitiveness, and consistency in operations and implementing solutions. Manages workforce vendors and contracts. Actively participates in industry associations and interacts with industry leadership to benchmark best practices. Partners with Global Meeting Planning leadership team to leverage best practices globally.
  • Participates on cross-functional project teams resulting in substantial impact to the business, demonstrating significant ability to influence and drive change. Negotiates and counsels on an expert level, justifies controversial positions and demonstrates advanced persuasion skills. Interaction involves convincing others to cooperate, grant approval, or act. Engages in complex problem solving requiring developing solutions for complex and diverse issues that may be unique and interrelated, requiring significant interpretation and the use of strong analytical skills. Applies extensive experience and knowledge of related and non-related precedents and policies in solutioning.
  • Ensures that all HCP meetings abide by Healthcare Compliance guidelines regarding interactions with HCPs and tracking and reporting of transfers of value. Has a moderate impact on the organization due to complexity of duties, leading all HCP meeting logistics for the LATAM area with varied and evolving healthcare compliance requirements, and multiple interdependent systems and tools. Properly assesses risk given high volume of HCP interactions and the critical importance of compliance through every aspect of execution, in a complex and rapidly changing environment where penalties for non-compliance are substantial.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 8 years of healthcare meeting planning experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • 3+ years of people management
  • Highly proficient bilingual oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English languages; Portuguese is a plus
  • Proficient in using corporate/local systems, HR systems, finance systems, etc. and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Familiarity with the Latin American culture
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Health Care Compliance practices pertaining to interactions with Healthcare Professionals (Pharma Guidelines and AdvaMed Code of Ethics)
  • Knowledge of professional event management software/systems [Cvent, etc.]
  • Expert/master knowledge and experience with the most current industry practices in meetings management
  • Skills include:
