Industrialization Automation Engineer

Job description (Key Responsibilities):
- Support Project Leads and their teams in the development and implementation of manufacturing equipment.
- Develop and document automation standards and processes for new equipment and existing equipment improvement projects.
- Develop custom automation solutions to support active manufacturing projects.
- Implement improvements with measurable results in savings, revenue, or quality.
- Program, configure, and integrate new equipment into existing systems.
- Robotic integration specialist. Able to program and troubleshoot robotic applications. Specifically, Fanuc robots are used throughout Bendix and Knorr Bremse.
- Provide technical direction and support to fellow team members.
- Provide technical support and training to outside suppliers and internal plant support engineers and technicians.
- Assist in the development of internal training programs.
- Execute cost evaluation and return on investment (ROI) estimates for improvement projects.
- Verify accuracy of energy monitoring, energy reports, and calibration procedures.
- Responsible for the design and integration of control systems for automated production equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of automated assembly processes.
- Assist in planning, organizing, monitoring, and oversight of automated test equipment.
- Recommend correct stock levels of repair or replacement parts to insure no more than 24-hour downtime.
- Use problem solving techniques to actively solve issues that arise during normal production.
- Able to debug and troubleshoot PLC-based, PC-based, and robotic programs.
- Use customer requirements to optimize the automation performance to deliver contracted KPIs.
- Perform and/or lead runoff execution for both project and support related activities.
- Able to work with people on all levels to implement ideas and processes, troubleshoot plant activities, and develop the participation of plant personnel.
- Able to present ideas and project status on a regular basis to management.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in engineering or computer science.
- Experience with programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs. Beckhoff and National Instruments is a plus.
- Experience with the following control systems software is also a plus:
- Ignition
- ThingWorx
- Beckhoff
- Experience with cloud, SCADA, and MES software and systems.
- Experience with automation of testing processes.
