Product Development Intern?

The intern will be responsible for mechanical structures sub system deliverables, including development, verification, and implementation of metallic, plastic and packaging components for home appliances (refrigerators, water and air treatment); working with global cross-system teams during various phases of projects and across various mechanical engineers' knowledge areas such as solid mechanics, dynamics, material properties, heat transfer, FEM, manufacturing process (injection molding, metal forming, rapid prototyping, etc). 

Responsibilities

• Drive New Product Development / Cost & Quality projects for refrigeration business (refrigerators, water and air treatment) with focus on structural components and systems
• Support and work for projects through all project phases (Concept / Development / Implementation)
• Solve problems and find reliable technical solutions for the applications
• Create ideas for new designs, cost reduction and quality improvement projects
• Support benchmarking activities, experimentation, data analysis via statistical tools (6 sigma)
• Support CAD models development submitting simulation requests with clear boundary condition definitions, and interpret results to make necessary design modifications. Use of tolerance analysis to drive sensitivity in the simulation results.

Requirements:

• Coursing bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field with at least 60% of the course already completed. 
• ESSENTIAL: Must be in the 6th, 7th, or 8th semester and have 1 year to 1 and a half years left until graduation.
• Languages: Fluent conversational English is ESSENTIAL.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (emphasis on Excel).
• Not required but a bonus: Six Sigma, CAD and CAE.
