Controls Technician
Purpose of Position.
Controls technician on Cable Engineering group, focused in the Cable manufacturing process. with strong linkages to MOB and capacity increase projects.
Responsibilities and tasks of the position.
- Provide electrical and controls engineering and equipment technical expertise in fiber optic cable manufacturing in support of production, maintenance, continuous improvement, cost reduction, and productivity improvements.
- Serve as a resource for in-depth troubleshooting of production equipment & processes
- Provide technical support when maintenance requirements exceed electrical associate capabilities.
- Actively participate in all phases of projects including design, fabrication, off-line integration and testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel and technology transfer.
- Individual must be capable of executing project assignments, in a team-based environment, with minimal supervision
- Provide on-call & weekend support as needed
Knowledge and Skill Requirements.
Education:
- Technical degree in controls or electrical engineering or related field, or various curriculum trainings
Required Years and Area of Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in a controls technician role or other similar function
Required Skills:
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, drives, and safety systems
- Knowledge of controls systems design, programming, and systems integration
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Strong written & oral communications skills
Desired Skills:
- Rockwell Studio 5000 experience
- GE iFIX experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with extrusion
- Continuous process improvement experience
- Experience with Excel and OSIsoft PI
