About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, developing, and implementing key programs in cost optimization projects for Commercial Chiller. These projects encompass various areas, including but not limited to mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, and heat transfer. The candidate will apply research, planning, design, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems. Additionally, s/he will develop and improve design products for manufacturing and quality, investigating pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, commonality, serviceability, strength-weight efficiency, and cost. The candidate will utilize project administration best practices to implement changes in a cost-effective and timely manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a (specify role), you'll be responsible for:

Business

  • Product cost productivity (Sch B) base on plan, Saving plan and in year for Commercial products
  • Provide engineering support for field quality issues reported, offering effective solutions to improve product quality with a competitive cost in a timely manner.
  • Provide factory support regarding product engineering and design fabricated in commercial manufacturing plants under our operative system Cx.
  • Support product ETL/UL/ASME audits through plants and maintain accuracy agency files.
  • Maintain the accuracy of engineering information, update and manage the master Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Lead and execute mid to high-complexity programs with minimal supervision/direction.

Technical

  • Performed engineering test and qualification plan for product improvements.
  • Secure and keep agency reports for Commercial products under UL and ETL
  • Actively participated in product design reviews alongside other project team members and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain standard products that are world-class, safe and cost-competitive.
  • Provide professional and technical assistance for troubleshooting product support and guidance.
  • Participate in defining technical requirements as needed.
  • Drives improvements base on end-user experience and performs corrective actions for field issues and product testing.
  • Develop and test structures and/or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
  • Work with product management team to develop and introduce new product options as standard product.
  • Develop computer models to simulate system and component performance.
  • Develop and manage laboratory qualification programs for sustaining changes.

Management

  • Keep sustaining metrics within objectives (Sch B).
  • Plan and execute projects assigned in order to keep them as planned.
  • Priorities time management.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering: IME, IMA, IA, with 5+ years of relevant experience; or
  • MA/MS degree in Engineering with 3+ plus years of related work experience.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical, and Electrical background.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English (written and oral).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience working in an Engineering design environment.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong teamwork/collaboration skills.
  • Dedicated to customer satisfaction including a demonstrated capability to establish and maintain strong business relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Demonstrate an ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints.
  • HVAC experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated technical capability to understand Air Conditioning, Psychometrics, Thermodynamics, Electricity, Electronics, Mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Programming in JavaScript, VBA, XML, is a plus.
