Operations Manager (Mechanical)


Bachelor's Degree: Mechanical /electrical or mechanical.


This position is responsible for leadership, management, and performance of the Apodaca, Mexico Plant Assembling and Painting organization. The associated duties include but are not limited to: supporting the operation's overall business strategy by providing leadership and direction to the Fabrication area; building a strong, leadership-oriented Fabrication Team; Helping to drive the continuous improvement of processes and the implementation of new technologies; developing organizational strength and robustness; and ensuring facility operation in compliance with Company policies and all laws. 


The position will play a key role in obtaining planned results and helping to maximize the long-term value delivered from the facility. 

He/she must be a change agent and team player who can work closely with the team to introduce contemporary operational practices to the facility and help create high-performance work teams. 

The Assembly & Painting Manager needs to be a metrics-based person who can ensure the implementation of solid systems and processes. 

He/she also needs to be a leader who can communicate the need for cultural change to a proud workforce and motivate action and results. The workforce needs passion and a sense of urgency, as well as the commitment to reach its potential. 


More specific responsibilities will include:


1. Will report to and work closely with the Plant Manager of Operations and the local team to develop an operations strategy. This multi-year strategy should embrace the concepts, principles, and philosophies of Lean Manufacturing. 

2. Develop a high-performance, leadership-oriented Production Team.

3. Provide a high level of leadership and management to motivate, develop, and guide the organization to achieve operational goals and objectives. 

4. Manage operations to ensure compliance with prescribed quality, cost, delivery, and other performance standards. Obtain planned results. 

5. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and effective customer relations. 

6. Foster an operations environment that provides a safe and environmentally responsible facility.

7. Select, train, develop, and motivate employees to maximize individual potential, achieve operational effectiveness, and ensure ongoing organizational capability.

•Minimum of 9 years of progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment. Metal Mechanics working industry experience is required especially in Assembly & Painting.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and influence skills. 
  • Ability to build effective partnerships with internal and external suppliers and partners.
  • Strong ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing philosophies, operations, processes, and related technologies. 
  • Demonstrated competence in lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement systems (e.g., Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing).
  • Strong knowledge of stamping and machining process.
  • Excellent understanding and the ability to manage capital and expense budgets. 
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and lead teams to solve complex problems.
  • Personal computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Familiar with leadership on 5 to 10 direct reports and with operational groups of 100 to 150 people
