Description
A healthy relationship between Kansas City Southern de Mexico and government institutions is crucial to the success of the railroad. This position manages and represents the President or other operational areas and maintains a continuous relationship with Embassies, associations, chambers, business, Chamber of Deputies and Senators, regulators, customs and port service and other key actors.
Recognized within the organization as a functional expert with specialized depth and/or breadth of knowledge. Works independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations. Solves complex problems; identifies new solutions using a broad perspective and understanding. Leads large-scale projects with substantial resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. May lead a project team with influence over contribution of others. Translates functional vision into plans and guides their execution.
Accountabilities
- Manages problems of coexistence with the railway community. Cooperates with inter-institutional relations to guarantee the company's link with Federal, State and Municipal authorities.
- Supports different teams in negotiations that are required with Federal, State and Municipal authorities to implement new client projects, construction, expansion or maintenance projects of the roads and facilities granted in concession to KCS; coordinate the repairs on rail tracks or grade crossings and obtaining the support of the authorities at all levels.
- Analyzes proposals of the federal, state and municipal authorities for feasible construction works to be included in intermodal facilities and ports and leads the necessary negotiations for these projects between the government and different areas within the company
- Represents the company at events with Embassies, chambers and associations, doing impactful networking with key stakeholders
- Establishes and strengthens cooperation with institutions and organizations in the social and private sectors.
- Monitors public policies that may have a positive or negative impact on the company, maintaining a constant lobby with federal authorities on issues of interest to the company.
- Engages proactively and sensitively in public policies, which can affect the company, to prevent its implementation and/or lessen a negative impact.
- Participates in the preparation, implementation, control and evaluation of the Presidency's plans and work programs.
- Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Law, International Relations, or a job related major field of study
- Minimum seven (5) years of relevant professional experience, including specialized knowledge of a discipline utilized to lead an area of our business, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
- Experience in similar positions 5+ years minimum in Corporate Affairs with: Community and Business Organizations, and Governments: Federal, State and Municipal
- Fluent in English & Spanish.
- Microsoft Office tools proficiency
- Business Protocol knowledge
