Job Summary:

We are seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Collection Manager to lead our retail collections team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in skip tracing, working with tools such as LexisNexis and Experian credit reports, and managing delinquent accounts in a fast-paced retail environment. This role is critical in optimizing cash flow, minimizing bad debt, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of the collections department, ensuring team performance and timely follow-up on delinquent accounts.
  • Implement effective collection strategies to reduce outstanding receivables and bad debt.
  • Conduct and oversee skip tracing activities using LexisNexis and other investigative tools to locate hard-to-reach debtors.
  • Review and analyze Experian credit reports to assess risk, prioritize collection efforts, and recommend credit limits or account actions.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for collections performance and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Train, mentor, and support collection agents in best practices and regulatory compliance (FDCPA, FCRA, etc.).
  • Handle escalated accounts, negotiate payment arrangements, and coordinate legal actions when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all communications and account activity in the company's CRM or collections software.
  • Collaborate with customer service, sales, and finance departments to resolve disputes and improve customer experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging tools in collections and credit analysis.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3+ years of experience in collections management, preferably in a retail or consumer finance environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with LexisNexis, Experian, and other skip tracing/credit reporting platforms.
  • Knowledge of credit and collections laws and best practices (FDCPA, FCRA, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collections/accounting software (e.g., Simplicity Collect, QuickBooks, SAP, and other industry-specific platforms).
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Experience with retail point-of-sale (POS) and finance systems.
  • Familiarity with legal collections processes and working with third-party collection agencies or legal counsel.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
