First Brands Group is hiring for a Sr Mechanical Design Engineer for our engineering division for our office in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
Work across all product lines, either by leading efforts or supporting less experienced team members. This position within the Engineering Group will have primary responsibility for developing new product designs from initial concept through development, validation, and release. The goal is to create innovative and competitive trailer products that meet or exceed customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop innovative and cost-effective products that align with HGA's business objectives.
· Design, validate, and release new products or applications.
· Develop new products from design concept using CAE tools in Excel and the SolidWorks environment.
· Gather all relevant information for part design through vehicle inspection (trucks and trailers).
· Maintain engineering records related to material master, Bills of Materials (BOM), product drawings, and system requirements for all product releases and changes.
· Resolve design issues related to manufactured or purchased products; evaluate components and assemblies as needed.
· Work independently to develop APQP deliverables (drawings, risk records, DFMEA, load cases, DVP, IR, tolerance stack-ups, etc.).
· Perform manufacturing tasks, including welding, press operation, lathe and milling machine work, and use of hand tools.
· Lead field and warranty analyses for aftermarket returns (AM).
· Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate design solutions.
· Some regional and international travel is expected (less than 10%).
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
· Master's degree is a plus.
Required Experience:
· 10+ years of experience in product design from concept to launch, including scope definition, FEA analysis, and mechanical simulation.
· 10+ years of experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), applying GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, DVP (Design Verification Plan), and DFMEA.
· 10+ years of experience using SolidWorks for 3D CAD design, 2D drawing creation, and FEA simulation.
· 10+ years of experience designing with steel structures, including sheet metal, castings, and forgings, as well as mechanical linkage systems.
· 10+ years of experience in the design of chassis, trailer, or coupling products.
· 10+ years of hands-on experience in metal fabrication processes, including machining, welding, assembly, or general workshop practices (required).
· 10+ years of experience working in a supplier environment serving customers in the automotive, defense, agriculture, or heavy truck sectors.
