Overall Purpose of the Role
Oversees an assigned area to ensure targets in production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and staffing are met. Works with other Shift Managers to achieve and exceed KPIs. Uses Lean tools to drive continuous improvement. Operates independently, with decisions directly impacting team performance and department reputation.
Responsibilities:
Decision Making & Problem Solving:
- Responsible for resolving customer complaints and ensuring adherence to product and customer specifications.
Production Support:
- Develops strategies to provide effective leadership and support, fostering collaboration and aligning priorities to meet internal and external customer needs.
Project Management:
- Establishes project goals and direction. Accountable for delivering key performance indicators (labor shrink, packaging costs, yield, turnover, outputs) in line with budgeted standards.
Management/Supervision:
- Supervises and leads daily operations, effectively managing staff. Motivates and engages team members, creating an environment where people strive to perform at their best. Focuses on attracting and retaining talent.
Product and Process Development:
- Continuously assesses cost-reduction opportunities by optimizing resource utilization, improving efficiencies, and implementing creative staffing strategies.
Good Manufacturing Practices:
- Ensures adherence to Lean Manufacturing principles and regulatory requirements, integrating them into company and product-specific practices.
Safety:
- Implements and enforces company safety policies and procedures. Responsible for the safe operation of all processes.
Training & Development:
- Ensures adequate staff training and maintains proper documentation in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in a fast-paced hard goods manufacturing environment.
- Conversational English is a must—and confidently used in daily professional settings.
- 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proficient in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem-solving), process improvement, and Poka Yoke (error-proofing) techniques.
- Extensive experience in high-volume manufacturing, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Strong understanding of design and production costs, including waste, downtime, scrap, and rework
