Tool Room Engineer
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support the development of new technologies, mold designs, products, and equipment, including problem-solving, cycle time reduction, mechanical improvements, and casting processes, as well as lean manufacturing initiatives.
· Provide instruction and support in the training of team members on equipment and processes.
· Responsible for the construction of engineering prototypes, assembly jigs, and fixtures for mold engineering and manufacturing purposes.
· Perform maintenance, repairs, and component replacements on High-Pressure Die Casting molds.
· Ensure proper use and operation of manual machines such as lathe, milling machine, grinder, welding equipment, among others.
· Execute the maintenance and repair plan for molds used in the die casting area.
· Manage and control the inventory of molds and tooling.
· Ensure mold changeovers are carried out according to the production schedule.
· Define, develop, and implement processes and methods aimed at production improvement.
· Analyze quality issues and recommend mold-related improvements to enhance product quality.
· Provide engineering leadership in die casting processes, molds, equipment, tooling, part development, and specifications.
· Define and manage the Engineering expense and CapEx budgets related to Die Casting operations.
· Deliver monthly reports on time, analyzing and tracking internal and external KPIs that impact processes, tooling, methods, and product manufacturing.
Education and Experience:
Education: Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role in Die Casting manufacturing processes.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role with knowledge of high-pressure aluminum injection molds.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role in maintenance, repair, and component replacement of Die Casting molds.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role operating toolroom machinery such as lathe, milling machine, and welding equipment.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role managing and controlling spare parts inventory.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role with basic knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical systems.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role interpreting technical prints and engineering drawings.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role performing capability analysis (CPK).
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role conducting root cause analysis and problem-solving using 8D methodology.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role with document control and technical documentation.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role applying Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen principles.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing technologies and statistical process control (SPC).
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role with knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, waste management, emergency response, and chemical handling.
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role using office software tools (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
