BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of Customer Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of Customer Data at MSC. They will be responsible for performing in-depth data analysis on large datasets and assist in data cleansing and data conversion activities to meet the business needs. They must have a broad understanding of all aspects of data management and data quality as well as strong technical and analytical skills. They will also be expected to work cross functionally with business users and lead and participate in other customer data related initiatives.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Establishes and manages ongoing data quality audit process for Customer Data.
* Monitors adherence to data governance policies and standards by developing audits on critical customer data elements for the business.
* Works closely with downstream customer data consumers and business leaders to identify gaps, errors & inconsistencies in data.
* Monitors feedback on customer data quality issues and identify any patterns of potential larger data quality issues.
* Identifies areas where customer data is missing or inaccurate and develop strategies to correct and complete customer data.
* Works with different functional areas to review existing processes and recommend data-related improvements.
* Partners with the data governance team to identify business rules/process change opportunities to improve customer data quality.
* Responsible for ongoing data profiling and data analysis of specified datasets.
* Responsible for creating and managing Data Quality metrics/dashboards for specified datasets.
* Leads mass data cleansing efforts and be responsible for regular monitoring and improvement of customer data quality.
* Performs data validations on specified datasets and recommend standards to improve quality of customer data
* Acts as the lead Data Steward for specified datasets.
* Establishes and implements Master Data Management best practices.
* Participates in formal project teams / activities concerning Customer Master Data to facilitate continuous improvement
* Ad-hoc support of business projects related to Customer Master Data (i.e., systems conversions /acquisitions/implementations)
* Supports the implementation of controls and metrics across the organization to reduce data issues, improve data quality, and measure performance of governance activities in conjunction with the overall Data Management strategy.
* Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
* Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
q Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Analytics, a related field or comparable experience required.
q One to three years of experience in data management and/or data governance, and data analytics required.
q Experience working with large datasets and processing comparative analysis within variable data scopes required.
q Experience with data analytics tools and visualization/reporting platforms (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, QlikView, Business Objects, etc.) is preferred
q Experience with Master Data Management and Data Governance is preferred
q Must be action oriented, capable of independently analyzing and solving complex problems involving data quality issues, system response time, and business rules conflicts
q Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide data strategies and solutions
q Strong Data Analysis skills and experience working with large data sets
q Basic knowledge of SQL
q Excellent attention to detail
q Strong verbal and written communication skills
