The Systems Engineer on the Server team is responsible for providing operational support for our production and development environments. This includes platforms such as: Warehouse Management Systems, Remote Desktop Services, Data Analytics, Data Warehousing (SQL Server, Hadoop, Tableau etc), Virtualization (VMWare, Anthos, Nutanix, Hyper-V). Engineers will be responsible for creating and maintaining SOPs, documentation, and cross training associate engineers
The incumbent must have a service-oriented mentality, a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned to the team, to ensure that our production environment stays in a resilient state. This will include addressing tickets / tasks, security standards, following implemented SOPs to include backups, recovery procedures at all locations, participating in projects across multiple teams, adhering to patching windows and anticipating end of life by planning ahead for varied systems.
Primary Accountabilities:
Technical
Production Support
Participate in on-call rotation, responding to critical alerts
Participate in Maintenance Window tasks (patching, upgrades etc.)
Investigate and mitigate interruptions to production services
Understanding of operating systems and administration
Able to respond to user request and support
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, or a Bachelor of Arts Degree in a related technical field,
3-5 years Windows Operating Systems
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training/certification in server operating systems.
Interest in writing code (bash, python, automation powershell or similar) in the realm of automation, monitoring and productionizing tasks
Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, etc.) Azure or similar cloud services
Diligence and ownership of a task from start to finish
Strong communication skills, both for team interaction and maintaining internal documentation
Interest in staying current with emerging industry practices
Understanding of what Von Newmann architecture is
