Civil Project Engineer – Capital Projects Management

Position Summary
This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of capital projects, ensuring compliance with Mexican and corporate standards related to quality, safety, and food safety. The engineer will oversee all phases of project execution—from technical design to financial closure—across infrastructure, construction, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Scope (35%)
- Development and/or outsourcing of basic engineering for capital projects.
- Contracting and reviewing detailed engineering for specific projects.
- Preparation of project scopes, P&IDs, and layouts.
- Presentation of viable technical-economic investment proposals.
- Evaluation of infrastructure opportunities to justify investments.
- Technical involvement with all company areas to support investment proposals.
- Management of diverse project types: production, quality, safety, maintenance, construction, capacity expansion, buildings.
- Supervision of works: mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, instrumentation, control, etc.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to prioritize and follow up on improvement proposals requiring investment.
- Administrative control of project payments.
2. Administrative Scope (35%)
- Evaluation and justification of capital projects.
- Execution and management of capital investment budgets.
- Coordination of all project activities to meet expected outcomes, budget constraints, and timelines.
- Technical closure of projects, delivering documentation to relevant departments (maintenance, production, quality, safety, etc.).
- Financial closure of projects within the required timeframe, including List Form completion.
3. General Activities (30%)
- Generation of purchase requisitions for the department.
- Supplier follow-up in coordination with the engineering buyer.
- Ensuring QA documentation is updated for any process changes affecting the HACCP system.
Requirements
Technical Knowledge:
- English proficiency above 50%.
- Proficiency in Office Suite, AutoCAD, SAP.
- General technical knowledge across disciplines: civil, mechanical, electrical, process, preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Knowledge of HACCP quality standards.
- Knowledge of safety and engineering standards.
- Budget management.
- Review of work estimates and concept catalogs.
