We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls & Electrical Engineer to join our team in the material handling industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, PLC programming, and automation controls, with hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for conveyor and sortation systems
Key responsibilities:
Cost and estimation: Estimate conveyor system electrical consumption. Do site surveys as needed,
Installation: Capable to do electrical installation and supervision
Commissioning: Assist on conveyor system commissioning I/O, red lines for as built layouts
LSS support: Assist LSS team from engineering perspective to solve customer issues
Assists Lead Engineer in the development of layout drawings, network drawings, e-stop zone drawings, permit drawings, full load calculations, bill of materials, and control panel schematic drawings
Contributes to system architecture, description of operation, functional specifications, and interface documents
Contributes to test plans (Internal, In-House, Site, Commissioning, and Acceptance)
Attends electrical related pricing, concept, and customer review meetings as requested
Creates (and/or delegates) layout drawings, network drawings, e-stop zone drawings, permit drawings, full load calculations, bill of materials, and control panel schematic drawings
Design, develop, and implement control systems for material handling equipment.
Program and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi) and HMI interfaces.
Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD tools.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers and project managers to ensure seamless system integration.
Conduct system testing, commissioning, and support during installation and startup phases.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability
Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEC standards
Safety systems design (e.g., e-stops, interlocks, light curtains)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
3+ years of experience in controls engineering within the material handling or automation industry.
Proficiency in PLC programming, especially with major platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens).
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and safety circuits.
Experience with SCADA systems, VFDs, and industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
