Job Title: Senior Tax Analyst - Secondment 

Ladder: Tax - Latam (Mx - Col - Arg)

Location: Mexico


Opportunity 


  • Provide services to one of the biggest and most innovative technology companies in the world in one of its fastest growing regions.
  • Be at the forefront of topics and discussions surrounding taxation of the digital economy
  • The position is remote/hybrid eligible which may include occasional work at the Mexico City office or attendance of off site meetings.
  • Participate and lead projects of high complexity and tax impact in Mexico and Latin America

 

Responsibilities 


  • Support Mexico tax implementations and compliance.
  • Assisting with tax platform transaction testing to guarantee tax compliance.
  • Assist with tax research projects. Discuss new laws and regulations with local advisors to understand the requirements and how it applies to the company. Prepare internal materials to educate cross functional teams, especially engineering teams, in such requirements so they can be implemented.  
  • Coordinate tax assistance for customer support and regulatory response teams in Mexico & Latam. Partner with cross functional stakeholders to deliver best solutions for the company's stakeholders and business.
  • Work with outsourced suppliers & advisors of direct and indirect tax compliance in Mexico. Assisting in providing information to tax compliance providers in matters related to tax withholding, invoicing, reporting and tax payments in Mexico.
  • Partner with finance teams to track and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and provide tax input on local reporting.
  • Reconciliation of tax collection, withholding, invoicing and account balances.
  • Support direct and indirect tax audits and interactions with tax and governmental authorities in México.
  • Completing ad hoc projects as assigned. 
  • Identifying, designing and implementing process improvements to ensure the highest standards of tax compliance and platform functionality regarding these topics.

 

 Requirements 


  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of direct and indirect tax experience with majority of time spent in a combination of Big 4 accounting and/or law firm and multinational tech companies (platform / sharing economy experience preferred) or public company.
  • Proven experience with filling the SIPRED
  • Strong foundation of tax technical knowledge with in-depth, practical experience evaluating and advising on international business initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact fluently with multicultural and international teams, including non-tax teams and higher roles. 
  • Experience in accounting-tax reconciliation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact fluently with internal tax teams as well as non-tax cross functional teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English are required.
  • Ability to compile and review large tax compliance and accounting data files and analyze for accuracy. Strong knowledge of spreadsheet management, financial and accounting calculations and analytical skills. Familiarity with the G suite is a plus.
  • Ability to operate independently in day to day tax compliance routines and problem solving
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to participate in multiple projects and prioritize work
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross functional teams and outside consultants. 
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Brings enthusiasm and optimism to their work along with an ability to think creatively to overcome challenges
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and highly motivated/proactive
  • Conduct work with highest level of integrity and ethical behavior
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced work environment
