About Us
Instituto Simón Bolívar is a bilingual, multicultural institution committed to academic excellence, innovation, and global citizenship. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of English to lead and strengthen our English Language Programme from preschool through high school.
Role Summary
The Director of English will design, lead, and oversee the institutional English strategy, ensuring alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), Cambridge Assessment standards, and the school's international vision. This is a strategic leadership role that requires both pedagogical expertise and strong management skills.
Key Responsibilities
? Design, implement, and update the institutional English programme, aligned with CEFR and Cambridge Path objectives.
? Lead and supervise English teaching teams across all school levels (K–12).
? Oversee Cambridge certifications (Starters, Movers, A2 Key, B1 Preliminary, B2 First, IELTS).
? Develop academic improvement plans based on measurable evidence and KPIs.
? Provide pedagogical coaching, training, and professional development for teachers.
? Promote innovation, oracy, and cross-curricular projects in English.
? Coordinate cultural and academic events in English, including debates, Model UN, and exchanges.
? Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external institutions and universities.
Requirements
? Bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or related fields (Master's preferred in TESOL, Educational Leadership, Curriculum Design, or Educational Assessment).
? Minimum 8 years of English teaching experience, including at least 3 years in academic coordination or leadership.
? Native-level English or C2 certified (Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL).
? Cambridge certifications (TKT, CELTA, DELTA) required; ICELT, Train the Trainer, or similar preferred.
? Expertise in Cambridge curriculum, CEFR progression, active methodologies (CLIL, flipped classroom, gamification, PBL), and technological integration.
? Strong leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
