About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP).
The Accountant will be responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and maintaining audit-ready records. The role also involves reviewing Accounts Payable transactions, ensuring proper coding and approval, and supporting system and process improvements. A strong command of U.S. GAAP compliance is fundamental to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries as part of the monthly close process.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts with a strong focus on GAAP compliance, identifying issues, resolving variances, and ensuring all balances are well-supported.
- Assist in preparing financial reports in alignment with U.S. GAAP for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation to support internal controls and external audit requirements.
- Review and validate Accounts Payable transactions for accurate coding, approval, and documentation under GAAP standards.
- Collaborate closely with U.S.-based accounting staff to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and GAAP.
- Support the ongoing implementation and improvement of ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct) and AP automation tools (e.g., BILL).
- Meet financial close deadlines consistently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, including documenting procedures and supporting system optimization.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent U.S. degree required); Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years in accounting for a U.S. company, with demonstrated expertise in U.S. GAAP.
- Proven experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Strong knowledge of reviewing AP transactions, including coding accuracy and approval workflows.
- Proficiency in ERP systems; Sage Intacct preferred.
- Familiarity with AP automation tools (e.g., BILL).
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with U.S.-based teams and external auditors.
Preferred Qualities
- CPA or CPA-in-process is a plus.
- Knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting and Lease Accounting (ASC 842) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate issues, propose solutions, and ensure compliance.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
