Job Summary
The Key Account Manager, Mining, will be responsible for sales growth and existing client base management in the Mexican mining sector. The candidate will be an integral sales team member and will interact very closely with other members of the North American mining sales team. Projects range from $20k USD orders to large capital projects over $10M USD.
What needs to be done?
Grow market share through the sales of turnkey, mine ventilation solutions to the Mexican market
Participates in the development of well written, accurate, concise, descriptive and appropriately detailed proposals for submission, along with proposal team
Maintain customer relationships with existing Howden client base that currently uses Howden products and services
Increase existing Howden mining solutions footprint through the sales of additional products and services
Develop new accounts and business growth through sales of the Howden product and services portfolio
Manage proposal meetings as required to discuss proposal details and to seek solutions to complex or unique technical challenges as they arise
Proactively seek opportunities to quote on projects at assigned customers through extensive knowledge of customer forecast maintenance cycles, independent identification of selling opportunities and engage in “upselling” and bundling techniques.
Review with Legal Counsel to ensure that terms and conditions meet the needs of Howden and the customer. Ensure that application engineers are aware of and mutually agree to and support the Company's position with regard to contractual terms and conditions.
Develop and conduct customer training and presentations to leverage Howden product portfolio as a solution provider across Howden's entire range of products.
Recommend product developments based on market/customer needs.
Utilize CRM tools to manage customer pipeline and identify high potential projects along with forecasting expected order dates and generating monthly reports.
Complete Customer Visit Reports within time and quality specifications provided.
Partner with Shared Services such as Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure cross-functional partnership, as needed.
Ensure safe work practices are followed, reporting all safety incidents and near misses on a timely basis and maintaining the goal of “zero” lost time incidents
What do you need to bring?
Bachelor's degree (engineering or technical discipline), mechanical, electrical or mine engineering preferred.
Applications and design experience related to mine ventilation design and solutions
Solid background in industrial fans, process heaters and cooling systems is preferred
Ability to read, understand and summarize pertinent capital project equipment specification details
Strong relationship and influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong organizational and analytical abilities with sense of urgency in dealing with issues and tasks
Drive and Desire to sell
Essential
Experience with working on large capital projects between $500k USD - $10M+ USD in the mining industry and the ability to close orders of this magnitude.
Bachelor's degree in Business, engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience in the mining industry is required.
A minimum of 7 – 10 years direct sales experience in capital projects or related mining industry.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating respect for the individual and team, and setting an example for compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate requirements.
Logical problem solving skills, outstanding organizational skills and dedication to quality and integrity.
Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes/key success factors.

Desirable
Mining customer knowledge with 6+ years experience with dealing with Mexico's underground mine sites.
Experience in air and gas ventilation and movement in the mining industry.
Experience in rotating equipment industry
Experience working with ERP, CRM and other technology tools.
Value Selling experience
Travel
Spend approximately 60% of time developing and maintaining customer relationships.
