Descripción
The Material Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of material handling, inventory control, and logistics within the warehouse or production facility. This role ensures that all materials are received, stored, and distributed efficiently to support production schedules and operational demands. The Material Supervisor works closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to maintain an optimal flow of materials while minimizing waste and costs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Management:
Supervise the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.
Oversee the loading, unloading, and movement of materials within the warehouse or production area.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the procurement team to reorder materials as needed to meet production requirements.
2. Inventory Control:
Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to maintain accurate stock records.
Implement inventory control procedures to prevent discrepancies, losses, and damages.
Utilize inventory management systems (ERP/MRP) to track material movements, stock levels, and reorder points.
3. Team Supervision:
Lead and manage a team of material handlers, forklift operators, and warehouse personnel.
Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to team members to ensure efficient material handling processes.
Schedule work shifts and allocate tasks to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
4. Production Support:
Collaborate with production planners and supervisors to ensure materials are available for production runs and minimize downtime.
Quickly respond to material shortages and implement solutions to avoid production delays.
Ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials to production lines as per the schedule.
5. Safety and Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols and procedures in all material handling activities to create a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in material storage and handling.
6. Data Analysis & Reporting:
Monitor and analyze material usage trends to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
Prepare and submit regular reports on inventory status, material movements, and team performance.
Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance material handling efficiency.
7. Coordination with Other Departments:
Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to align material availability with production schedules and delivery timelines.
Communicate with suppliers to resolve any material discrepancies or issues related to shipments.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or inventory management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Skills:
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems).
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to material handling and storage.
