The Air Shipment Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the air freight transportation process for goods and cargo. This role involves managing shipment schedules, ensuring compliance with regulations, handling documentation, and liaising with airlines, customs authorities, and clients to ensure timely and accurate delivery of shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Shipment Coordination
Plan and coordinate air shipments from origin to destination, including booking space with airlines and arranging for necessary ground transportation.
Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues or delays that arise during transit.
Documentation Management
Prepare and review all necessary shipping documentation, including air waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
Ensure that all documentation complies with international regulations and airline requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
Stay informed about international air cargo regulations, including IATA (International Air Transport Association) guidelines and customs requirements.
Ensure that all shipments adhere to regulatory standards and handle any necessary customs clearance processes.
Customer Service
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding their air shipments, providing updates on shipment status and addressing any concerns or issues.
Collaborate with clients to understand their shipping needs and provide solutions to optimize their air freight operations.
Carrier Relations
Develop and maintain relationships with airlines, freight forwarders, and other transportation partners.
Negotiate rates and service agreements with carriers to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality service.
Problem Resolution
Address and resolve any issues related to air shipments, such as delays, lost or damaged cargo, and discrepancies in documentation.
Implement corrective actions and communicate solutions to clients and stakeholders.
Performance Monitoring
Monitor and evaluate carrier performance and service levels, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon standards.
Analyze shipment data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements.
Operational Efficiency
Optimize shipping processes and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in air cargo management to implement best practices.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of [3] years of experience in air freight coordination, logistics, or supply chain management.
Skills:
Strong understanding of air cargo regulations and documentation.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
